Materials handling is where controls engineering gets unforgiving. The equipment is continuous, the throughput targets are contractual, and the window to prove a change works is whatever the operation will give you at night. Our engineers work on conveyor, sortation, tote handling and storage systems inside high-throughput fulfilment and distribution centres, in exactly those conditions.
What our engineers work on
- Conveyor and transport controls — motor and drive control, VFD configuration, zone logic, accumulation, merges and diverts.
- Sortation — divert logic, scanner and photo-eye integration, reject and recirculation handling, throughput tuning.
- Tote handling and decanting — automated tote presentation, emptying and induction equipment, and the interlocks that keep an operator out of a moving mechanism.
- Storage and retrieval — controls for automated storage equipment and the sequencing that feeds it.
- Upstream interfaces — the handshake between floor controls and the warehouse control or management layer, where most throughput problems actually live.
- Commissioning under live conditions — phased cutovers, night windows, and the discipline of proving a change without stopping the building.
Two ways we engage, and we will tell you which you are buying
We take the scope. Where the work is ours end to end — design, code, panels, commissioning — we own it and we sign for it. That is the model on our own-scope programmes.
We staff yours. More often in materials handling, our engineers are embedded into an integrator's or OEM's programme as contract engineers, executing to the prime's design and standards. The prime holds the contract and signs the certificate; we supply the people who do the work and stand behind their quality.
Both are real services. Confusing them is how a controls partner ends up over-promising, so we name which one is on the table before anyone signs anything.
Why our engineers are useful here specifically
They have worked inside the constraint, not around it. A fulfilment operation does not stop because the controls scope is behind. Engineers who have commissioned in that environment plan around the operating window from the first schedule rather than discovering it in week six.
Bilingual, on both sides of the border. We work and document in Spanish and English. On North American materials-handling programmes the engineering, the OEM and the operating team are frequently in three different places and two different languages.
Controls depth, not just conveyor familiarity. The same engineers work on mission-critical and process controls. Diagnosing a throughput problem that turns out to be a network or a scan-rate problem takes someone who has seen both.
What we do not claim
We name no clients or sites here. Our engineers work under confidentiality agreements on other companies' programmes, and the projects themselves are not ours to advertise. If you need references, ask and we will arrange what our agreements allow — which is a better answer than a logo wall built out of other people's work.
