    Our Team

Senior-led means the engineers who scope the work are the engineers accountable at commissioning. Here is who that is.

Black Box Engineering is a small firm by design. The people below are not a sales layer that hands your project to someone else once the contract is signed.

    Leadership

Miguel Rivera-Tavera — Co-owner, Controls and Automation Lead

Miguel runs delivery and engineering. Controls architecture, PLC and DCS programming, safety engineering, commissioning, and the technical direction of every program we take. Feasibility, scope and staffing decisions are his.

Trey Evans — Co-owner, Growth and Operations

Trey runs the commercial side: business development, pricing, contracting, and program management. Cross-border structure, procurement and the commercial terms of an engagement are his.

Between them, more than thirty years in controls, automation and commissioning, and over a hundred projects.

    Where that experience comes from

This matters, and most firms are vague about it, so we will not be.

Our leadership's hyperscale and mission-critical experience — data centers, large fulfillment programs, commissioning in live buildings — was earned in prior roles, before Black Box Engineering existed. Black Box Engineering's engineering leadership has delivered controls scope in hyperscale environments. Black Box Engineering as a company has not held those contracts, and we do not present them as ours.

What that means practically: the depth here is in the people, built on programs they delivered elsewhere. The company is young. The engineers are not.

We would rather tell you that in the first conversation than have you discover it in the third.

    The engineers

Our delivery engineers are not listed here by name, and that is deliberate. Naming individual staff on a public page is their decision to make, not ours, and several are early in their careers.

You will meet the engineers assigned to your program before anything is priced. If you want to assess a specific person's experience before committing, ask — we will put them on the call.

    What you are actually buying

On a program, you get a named engineer with defined ownership from scope through turnover, not a rotating bench. If the person who wrote your control narrative is not the person standing at the panel during integrated testing, something has gone wrong with how we staffed it.

That is the whole argument for a firm this size. It is also the reason we turn work down when we cannot staff it properly.

Talk to the people who would do the work

Tell us the scope and we will put the right engineer on the call, not an account manager.
