1. Agreement
This website, blackboxeng.com, is published by Black Box Ingeniería, S.A. de C.V. ("Black Box," "we," "us"), together with its affiliate Black Box Controls LLC. By using this site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
These Terms govern the website only. They do not govern any engineering services we perform. Those are governed exclusively by a signed services agreement, purchase order, or contract between us, and where those terms conflict with these, the signed agreement controls.
2. No engineering or professional relationship
Reading this site, sending us a message, or receiving a reply does not create an engineer–client relationship and does not put us under any professional duty to you. A relationship begins only when both parties sign a written agreement describing the scope of work.
3. Technical content is general information — not engineering advice
We publish technical material — descriptions of methods, standards, platforms, checklists, and project narratives — because we think it is useful to the engineers and managers who read it.
It is general information. It is not engineering advice, and it is not a design, specification, or safety determination for your facility.
Industrial installations differ in configuration, condition, code jurisdiction, hazard classification, and operating context. Guidance that is correct on one system can be wrong or dangerous on another. Nothing on this site should be relied on to:
- design, modify, energize, or commission equipment or control systems;
- make or verify a safety determination, hazard classification, or protective-device setting;
- establish compliance with any code, standard, or regulation, including NEC, NOM, NFPA, UL, IEC, ISA, or their equivalents;
- substitute for the judgment of a qualified engineer familiar with your specific installation.
Always engage a qualified professional who can evaluate your actual conditions. If you act on anything published here, you do so at your own risk.
4. Nothing here is an offer or a quotation
Descriptions of our services, capabilities, industries, or past work are informational. They are not an offer to perform work, not a warranty of availability or capability for your project, and not a binding quotation. Scope, schedule, and price exist only in a written agreement signed by an authorized representative of Black Box.
5. Do not send us confidential information
Information you send us through this site is not confidential. Do not submit drawings, specifications, P&IDs, control narratives, pricing, security or safety information, or anything else your organization treats as proprietary through the contact form or by unsolicited email.
We may need to share inquiries internally to route them, and we may already be working on similar problems for others. Sending us material through this site does not create a confidentiality obligation, does not restrict what we may work on, and does not give you any rights in our work.
If you need to share technical material, tell us first and we will put a confidentiality agreement in place. We are glad to do this — it protects both of us.
6. Our content
The content of this site — text, graphics, layout, photographs, diagrams, logos, and the Black Box name and marks — belongs to Black Box or is used with permission, and is protected by Mexican, US, and international law.
You may view, download, and print pages for your own internal business use. You may quote or reference our material with attribution and a link. You may not republish it as your own, use it commercially, or use our name, logo, or marks to suggest a relationship or endorsement that does not exist.
7. Third-party names and marks
We name manufacturers, platforms, and standards — including product and company names such as AVEVA, Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Ignition, and others — solely to describe the technologies we work with and the experience of our engineers.
These names are the trademarks of their respective owners. Reference to them does not imply partnership, certification, authorization, endorsement, or any affiliation with those companies unless we state a specific relationship expressly and by name.
8. Careers
Job postings on this site are informational and may be filled, changed, or withdrawn at any time. Submitting an application does not create an employment relationship, an offer, or any obligation on our part to consider, interview, or respond. Applicant data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its infrastructure, or any connected system;
- interfere with the site's operation, or impose an unreasonable load on it;
- collect personal data of our staff or visitors from the site;
- use the site to send unsolicited commercial messages;
- misrepresent yourself or your organization when contacting us.
We welcome search engines, AI assistants, and research crawlers. Indexing, crawling, and citation of our public pages by search and AI systems is permitted and encouraged, subject to our robots.txt and to reasonable request rates. This permission does not extend to bulk harvesting that degrades site performance, to circumventing access controls, or to any use of the site's content that Section 6 does not allow.
10. Availability and accuracy
We provide this site "as is" and "as available." We work to keep it accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is complete, error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components, and we may change or withdraw any part of it without notice.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Black Box and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, lost data, business interruption, equipment damage, or downtime, arising out of your use of — or inability to use — this site or anything published on it, whether the claim is in contract, tort, or otherwise, and even if we were advised such damages were possible.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to US $1,000 or its equivalent in Mexican pesos.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
12. Links to other sites
We link to third-party sites where we think they are useful. We do not control them, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. Visiting them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Black Box harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of this site, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of another.
14. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute arising from the website or these Terms will be submitted to the competent courts of Mexico City, and both parties waive any other venue to which they might be entitled.
This section governs the website only. A signed services agreement may specify different governing law and venue, and where it does, it controls for matters arising under it.
15. Severability and waiver
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
16. Changes
We may revise these Terms at any time. The current version is posted at blackboxeng.com/terms-of-use with the date it took effect, and applies to use of the site from that date.
